Totally new design
The new Silverado, while it takes cues from its predecessors, has a much more stylish approach including more body work than previous models. This is the Trail Boss model which carries the familiar Z71 badge. This truck appears ready for off-road work.
Making a statement
For the reveal, at a special 100th anniversary pickup event, the new 2019 Silverado was flown in by helicopter, and dropped off for spectators.
Remembering the past
Chevy has been in the pickup business since 1918, and this event celebrated that by bringing out models from every year in that history to be lined up in a special 100 formation.
When you celebrate an anniversary, you go all out, at least for the 100th. This is what that 100-truck lineup looked like from above.
The new shape of Silverado drew solid crowd reaction from the event. It'll be up to Chevy dealers to get crowds in to take a look when the pickups arrive in showrooms later in 2018.
Here's the new truck going away. It'll be part of an expanded line of trucks to offer customers even more choices for 2019. There will be eight 2019 Silverado models and more engine/transmission option choices than in the past. The company also promises more technology and convenience features.
The back up close
You can see that the new design better incorporates the exhaust ports and rear hitch. The rear deck light at the top of the cab is in a pod off the back which indicates more potential offering there. And the rear bumper keeps that in-grown step design in the new model (helpful for getting into the bed when needed).
The full view
The Silverado LT Trail Boss (that's the model of the sneak peek truck) integrates off-road equipment of the Z71 package, but also comes with a two-inch suspension lift. The company notes that the Trailboss suspension kit is fully tested, validated and warranted by Chevrolet - unlike aftermarket lift kits. We'll have more about this pickup after the Detroit full reveal, including engine, transmission and tech choices.
