One of the world’s largest farm shows will be held in Paris from Feb. 24 to 28, 2013. Called SIMA, the International Trade Exhibition for Agricultural Equipment and Livestock Farming is held every two years in the famous French city at the Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center.

During five days, SIMA will bring together 1,300 exhibitors from 41 countries showcasing their products and services throughout six exhibit halls. Show organizers expect more than 200,000 professional visitors from over 120 countries to attend. The agricultural business in France has done very well, in spite of the economic problems in Europe. France’s ag business has experienced a 35% growth in 201.

Unique to SIMA’s is its attention to agricultural equipment for large-scale and specialist agriculture as well as livestock. SIMA officials also claim it is the most international of the large European farm shows. At the last SIMA show in 2011, half of the exhibitors were from outside France. This percent is expected to increase 12% next year. In 2011, 25% of the visitors were also from other countries.

Innovation focus

The 2013 event will award and showcase innovation in the industry with the SIMA Innovation Awards.  Over the last 50 years, robotic milking machines, GPS systems and, more recently, a hydrogen-fueled tractor and vehicle synchronization system have all been awarded prizes by a panel of international experts in the field. This year’s judges hail from Belgium, France, Canada, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, Denmark, Poland, Germany and Hungary.

Innovation will be at the heart of the 75th edition of SIMA with new features in store such as:

  • International meetings covering topics relating to agriculture around the world
  • The SIMAGENA Genomics Center shedding light on all of the new advances and discoveries in the fields of genetics and genomics.
  • The Innovation Zone that showcases innovations in the show’s agricultural equipment sector.

SIMA is a show for trade professionals only and is produced by Paris-based Comexposium, the #1 trade show organizer in France.
