The SeedCommand clutch control system now controls up to 36 planter sections. The Insight DirectCommand module for sprayers controls up to 10 sections. Software unlocks, CANbus modules and wiring harnesses for each product can be added to the Insight display for $2,800 (list price). An Insight display kit lists for $3,995. For 2008, Insight SeedCommand will integrate planter monitor functions for KPM-equipped Kinze planters.

The FarmPro GPS Steering & Application Control System, jointly introduced by AutoFarm and Raven Industries for 2008, controls up to 10 boom sections using the Raven AccuBoom.

The Outback AutoMate, which interfaces with the complete Outback Guidance line, controls 10 spray boom sections. The base AutoMate kit comes complete to work with Raven 440/450/460 rate controllers. The suggested retail price is $1,895. In the future, AutoMate will be adapted for planting and nutrient placement.
Swath Control Pro is an optional activation for the GreenStar 2 system on most John Deere 4000 series sprayers. Swath Control Pro also can be used on some non-John Deere pull-type sprayers and anhydrous ammonia rigs by adding the GS2 rate controller. Recently, John Deere announced Swath Control Pro for planters. It can control up to 12 planter sections. The cost of activating Swath Control Pro is $2,500. The GS2 rate controller is extra.
AccuBoom controls up to 10 sprayer or planter sections with CAN wiring. AccuBoom requires Raven Envizio Plus, Envizio Pro, Viper Pro or the new FarmPro GPS Steering & Application Control System, jointly introduced by AutoFarm and Raven Industries. The suggested retail price for AccuBoom is $1,135.
SmartBoom is a self-contained system that controls up to seven sprayer or planter sections with many Raven controllers and a DGPS receiver. The suggested retail price is $1,830.
The AS7500 section controller controls up to 13 planter or sprayer sections. It is compatible with most spray rate controllers, GPS receivers and guidance systems. The suggested retail price of the AS7500 is $1,950, plus $150 for the custom cable for the spray rate controller.
The new BoomPilot adds spray boom section control to existing GPS systems and most spray controllers and can be adapted for use with planters. A six-section BoomPilot lists for $1,495. A 16-section version lists for $1,695.
Also new this year is the CenterLine 230, which offers GPS guidance and boom/planter section control in a single console. A six-section model lists for $1,695. A 16-section version lists for $2,195.
Topcon Precision Agriculture
The Topcon X20 integrated controller's auto section control feature controls up to 30 planter or sprayer sections. The X20 controller, which drives a wide range of functions, including automated steering, has a suggested retail price of $5,665. Swath control requires an electronic control unit, which can be shared by planters and sprayers. It has a suggested retail price of $3,100.
Trimble's new Field Manager display (with new Version 5.0 firmware) controls up to 24 planter sections. The firmware upgrade, which also adds planting control and monitoring functions and four-product variable-rate control, retails for $750. A Field Manager display retails for $4,745.
The Trimble EZ-Boom controls up to 10 sprayer and planter sections. It interfaces with Trimble's EZ-Guide Plus and EZ-Guide 500 lightbars and Field Manager displays. The retail price is $1,895.
