Taking the pickup off road

The pickup truck has become the staple of the suburban homeowner, but on the farm they're a necessity and having a truck that can go anywhere and do anything is more important than ever. Ram Trucks have a long history of capable machines (see the historical video on this page) since WWII, and they have the distinction of offering the first off-road, four-wheel drive pickup to the consumer market - the Power Wagon.

For 2014 the Heavy Duty lineup at Ram gets a new Power Wagon with some interesting features worth detailing in this mini-gallery as spring heats up. The Power Wagon offers a big, beefy engine, a new exterior look and plenty of other features to checkout.

And if you want to know more about the history of the Power Wagon, first rolled out in 1945, check out the historical video link below. Note that back in the early days, the Power Wagon did more than on-road work, there's a plow behind one and a drill behind another. Interesting times.

We've poured over the release announcement for the new rig, and matched the information with images that help you see the new Power Wagon's key features. Check out the rest of the details of this capable truck, including an interesting suspension upgrade for the front that the Power Wagon had to have.

The Power Wagon is so new it's not on the company website, but if you want to check out Heavy Duty truck specs visit ramtrucks.com.
