We're kicking off our look at 2016 pickup trucks with a rundown on the Silverado light-duty truck series. Last year the line went through a major revamp, so this year most of the changes are a little more cosmetic, though there are some drivetrain changes we'll detail here.
The new lineup was launched at the Texas State Fair, a common area for pickup makers to roll out their new muscle. What goes better with deep fried anything except perhaps a new pickup truck. Chevy is boasting that its pickup sales are up 33% so far this year versus year-earlier levels. Part of that is built on the fact that overall pickup sales are up as the economy improves, yet Chevy is getting its fair share.
You'll find quite a few notes about engines, transmissions (the 8-speed gets some refinement) and other features, including some new high-tech creature comforts. Check out the images and the information in this gallery to catch up on what's happening for 2016.
Interestingly, Chevy has a new campaign, or slogan, for these trucks. The noses have changed, and this is now the "new face of strong." We'll just report and you decide, though with some other key cosmetic highlights we're thinking they've refined these trucks nicely. Enjoy the gallery.
