DuPont Pioneer announced today the introduction of 39 new soybean products for the 2013 growing season, the largest single season introduction in the company’s history.
The soybeans will carry the next generation T Series soybeans, which “marks a step change over the Y Series soybeans,” says Don Schafer, DuPont Pioneer senior marketing manager-soybeans. “The T series products represent the largest number of soybean varieties advanced in a single year by Pioneer.”
The AYT process pinpoints native trait genes for increased defensive trait protection and improved pest resistance packages tailored for specific geographies. AYT employs novel trait integration through a proprietary matrix of gene mapping, molecular breeding technologies and intense local field testing. The system is a key part of a comprehensive plan to accelerate yield gain and broaden resistance to key diseases and insects.
The company says 34 of these new varieties will carry the Roundup Ready Gene, two will be new Plenish high oleic varieties, five are new products with the LibertyLink gene and two new varieties will have the the Roundup Ready/STS stack.
Schafer says the new varieties will be available “for virtually every soybean growing area in North America, from early 00 products all the way to Group 5 products.”
There will be limited quantities of the T Series available for the 2013 growing season, with up to 30 percent of the company’s products to be T Series soybeans in 2014.
