European farmers use more tillage implements than Midwestern corn and soybean growers do. Here, a plow is rare. But in Europe and eastern Europe, plows are widely used. At Agritechnica, so many different companies offered heavy tillage implements that nearly two large buildings were devoted to tillage equipment. Here's a look at some of the tillage machinery.
1. Plow and pack
Yes, this is a modern plow with a packer attached. Manufactured by Lemken, the FlexPack implement is designed for working the ground and eliminating large clods of dirt. Visit www.lemken.com
3. Mix and match MegaSeed
Built by Rabe, the MegaSeed implement allows mixing and matching different jobs. The seeder may be paired with a fertilizer spreader, a tillage device or a packer. Visit www.rabe-agri.eu
4. V Sub 700 subsoiler
The V Sub 700 from Quivogne is a one-pass tillage tool. It will disk, pack, rip, etc. A 300-hp tractor with a 3-pt. hitch is needed to pull the implement. Visit www.quivogne.fr
5. Add wings to subsoiler
The V Sub 700 subsoiler will break up the soil up to 23 ft. wide. If a farmer has a tractor with more horsepower and needs more width, another wing may be bolted onto the sides of the implement.
6. Stubble cultivator
The Kongskilde Vibro flex 7440 H cultivator is 13 ft. wide and is designed to cultivate stubble ground and pack it. Between 130 and 170 hp is needed to pull the implement. Visit www.kongskilde.com
The Maximulch implement from Agrisem is called a trailed stubble breaker. This implement is able to accomplish many jobs, including disking, ripping, and packing. Depending on the width of the implement, a tractor with 180 to 450 hp is required to pull it. visit www.agrisem.com
