AGCO's Fendt introduced its new 900 Series tractors during Farm Progress Show in Decatur, IL. Fendt claims that this five-model series, ranging from 200 to 300 PTO hp (240 to 360 engine hp), delivers up to 7% greater fuel efficiency compared to previous models. The company credits this fuel savings to new engines, now equipped with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology to meet Tier 4 interim emissions regulations. The new line includes a number of new features to meet the needs of its operators.
1. Touch-screen monitor
The new tractors feature a standard 10.4-in., Vario, touch-screen monitor and a single joystick for control of drive functions and hydraulics.
2. Reversing operator station
A reversing operator station is available. The entire front console, driver station and dash rotate 180 degrees to the rear. The new models offer 22 equipment connections, including six rear and two front double-acting hydraulic valves and rear PTO. It also includes factory-installed front and rear 3-pt. hitches and full ISOBUS connection.
3. Cab cool/hot box
An accessory available is a cool/hot box that can be packed with food at home and brought to the tractor. The box plugs into the tractor's HVAC system to maintain a certain temperature. If the air conditioning is on, the contents stay cool. If the heater is used, the contents stay warm.
4. Temperature-controlled storage
A smaller storage box that fits on the floor of the tractor has a short cord to plug in. Thermostic controls will keep the contents either hot or cold.
5. New 900 Series
The 900 Series tractors are powered with Deutz 7.8-liter, six-cylinder, turbocharged, air-to-air after-cooled engines. Fendt reports the tractors combine speed, fuel efficiency, power and technology.
6. Fendt 800 Series
Also on display at Farm Progress was the Fendt 800 Series tractors. The 800 line includes four models from 220 to 280 hp.
The x5 cab on the new Fendt line offers a full view of the crop for the operator. Tinted front and side windows help create a relaxed environment.
