OREGON SCIENTIFIC now offers several John Deere licensed weather forecasting products ranging from a digital indoor/outdoor thermometer for $25 to a full-featured weather station for $350.
The complete weather station comes equipped with outdoor sensors that operate on solar power. The station has seven channels and accepts up to three additional sensors.
The wireless weather station has three remote sensors operating on solar power or by lithium batteries. It also forecasts the weather for the next 12 to 24 hours based on barometric pressure.
Long-range sensors transmit up to 300 ft. from the main unit. A large LCD touch screen comes with an electroluminescent backlight. An anemometer measures wind speed and direction. The unit also measures humidity, barometric pressure and outdoor temperature.
Optional alarms can be set to alert you to specific conditions such as wind speed or freezing temperatures. The system memory will retain data for future reference. You also can transfer the data to a personal computer and manipulate the data with programs such as Weather Lab from Ambient Software (www.ambientsw.com ). The unit is PC compatible (with optional RS-232 serial cable and software).
