New equipment from Claas, Great Plains, Horsch, Michelin and AGCO was displayed at this year's Farm Progress Show held in central Iowa.

New from Farm Progress: Part 1
1. Challenger MT 765D
The Challenger MT700D Series tractors are available in two models. The MT765D (shown) is rated at 285 PTO/350 engine hp and the MT755D is rated at 260 PTO/327 engine hp. Both AGCO Power 8.4L diesel engines provide low operating input costs, low noise levels, long life and top power and torque. The Mobil-trac, five-axle undercarriage system features oscillating mid-wheels to minimize compaction and maximize traction and pulling power. The track system also offers an improved ride over wheeled models.
2. Claas 3300 Quadrant baler
The Claas Quadrant 3300 baler is a high-performance baler for dry hay, silage and straw. It produces 3- x 4-ft. bales. The single axle model retails for $138,659 and a double-axle model for $147,702. Also available from Claas is the newly released Quadrant 3300 RC baler that offers a finer cut. A tandem axle model, the 3300 RC retails for $162,000.
3. Great Plains Yield-Pro Planter
Great Plains introduced the new YP-825R Yield-Pro planter that solves a problem of transporting an 8-row planter. The planter features a "Lift-and -Rotate" design where the planter mainframe rotates on the hitch for transport at a width of 11 ft. 10 in. The planter has row-spacing capabilities of 22-in., 30-in. and 30-in. twin rows. Each row holds a 1.6-bu. poly seed box.
4. Aluminum Corn Head
The new Tango4 corn head is constructed of aluminum, making it 25% lighter than average steel corn heads and up to 40% lighter than some models. The new head is manufactured in Argentina by Tango4, a company made up of four independent companies. The 8-row model, pictured, retails for $76,000 and fits on all brands of combines.
5. Horsch Maestro SW planter
The Horsch Maestro SW planter was named machine of 2012 (in Europe) for its features that include the ability to plant fast with precise seed placement and its Seed on Demand system for a short filling time. The planter also features an electronic control system that monitors the amount of missing and double spots as well as the coefficient of variation per row. It is available for 12 to 24 rows, and the power demand starts at 180 hp.
