The John Deere S-Series combines, new for model year 2012, incorporate extensive changes from front to back and replace the 70 Series launched in 2007. The new series consists of five models ranging from 271 to 543 hp. The largest model, the 543-hp S690, is John Deere’s first entry in the Class 9 size category. The combines can be equipped with larger, 16- and 18-row corn heads and 40-ft. draper platforms to match their added capacity. The new S-Series combines will be available for the 2012 harvest season.
2. Machine Sync automated harvest system
John Deere showcased a new system called MachineSync that automates grain unloading. The system, scheduled for release in early spring 2012, uses GPS signals and automation technology to synchronize the combine and tractor pulling the grain wagon so the tractor operator never has to adjust the speed. A high-speed wireless network is set up in the field to handle up to 10 vehicles. A ready-to-unload request can be sent from the combine when the grain tank is full.
3. 616C corn head
To match the larger harvesting capacities of the new S-Series combines, John Deere is introducing the new 600 Series corn heads, including the company's first 16- and 18-row heads.
4. S-Flex draper platform
Customers wanting a flexible-draper platform can opt for the new 600FD HydraFlex Draper, available in 35- and 40-ft. models.
5. 9R/9RT Series tractors
Also new for model year 2012 is the John Deere 9R/9RT Series tractors, replacing the 9030 Series introduced in 2007. The eight-model series, five with wheels and three with tracks, ranges from 360 to 560 engine hp. Changes include new styling, more horsepower, new hitch and PTO options, and upgraded cab comforts and controls.
6. 6R tractor
The John Deere 6R Tractor Series is a totally new series for 2012. The 6R Series consists of three models from 170 to 210 engine hp that extend the power range of Deere’s mid-size row crop tractor offerings. The tractors offer a high power density, light weight, and versatility to perform both row-crop and loader work.
