Gregg Sauder is a master at discovering new concepts and turning them into reality. He shared ideas with farmers at the Farm Progress Show for three full days.
360 Yield Center’s new concept in planter refilling really consists of two new products — the supply vehicle and refill system (shown here), plus custom saddle tanks on the tractor.
MATCHING SADDLE TANKS
360 Yield Center designed these saddle tanks to fit the planter tractor. They hold 350 gallons each. Note the Sprint UTV supply vehicle is approaching from behind.
ZERO IN ON TARGET
The UTV supply vehicle is zeroing in on the planter. The front snout extending forward from the UTV will eventually lock onto the planter receiver at the bottom left of the planter.
CONNECT AND FILL
Liquid moves from the tanks on the support vehicle to the saddle tanks. In this case it’s just water for demonstration purposes, but the end goal is to move fertilizer through the lines.
Once the UTV Sprint tank is empty, the system disconnects and the UTV backs away from the planter.
REPEAT THE PROCESS
The planter driver and UTV driver in the demonstration will repeat this process again in a bit for the audience. In a real field, the planter would continue planting and the UTV driver would head back to fill the tank with fertilizer for the next time the planter needs refilling.
