Unverferth says its new strip-till unit eliminates skipping with an independently mounted, parallel-link design. Featuring 6,000 lbs. of trip pressure, the Zone-Stripper provides accurate single-point tripping when the unit releases. It is made of double-frame steel and includes a 6- × 6-ft. rear bar for added durability. A 20-in. ripple coulter with 1,500 lbs. of pressure cuts residue, while alloy steel blades on the auto-reset shank cut 4 to 12 in. deep. The Zone-Stripper's offset coulters can be modified according to desired tillage width, depth, angle and pressure.
Price of a six-row unit with dual 13-wave coulters is $13,960. Optional row cleaners cost $400/row, and optional fertilizer shank attachments are $100/row. Contact Unverferth, Dept. FIN, Box 357, Kalida, OH 45853, 800/322-6301, visit www.unverferth.com or www.freeproductinfo.net/fin, or circle 112.
A new spreader allows for two product placements at once while spreading up to 105 ft. The Fusion from GVM features a dual hopper with removable insert and twin hoppers evenly set for convenient loading and roll tarp installation. The spreader is equipped with a 27-in. belt-over-chain conveyor with an inverted V-shield to protect the conveyor from lime buildup. A new tool from Westendorf makes changing tractor duals a job for just one person. The Dual Changer lifts up to a 600-lb. tractor tire and allows precise positioning onto the hub. The changer slips over a front loader bucket and attaches by a strap while bucket controls maneuver the tire into position on the hub with a 16-in. extension. The Dual Changer features three-way adjustment: a hydraulic jack adjusts height; a telescoping boom moves the tire forward and back; and a wheel on the end of the boom rotates to align the holes for mounting. After the tire is aligned, it can be bolted into place.
Bush Hog says its new rotary cutter offers durability, easy maintenance and high blade speed for efficient cutting. The 2715 Legend flex-wing cutter has an interconnected deck structure and axles with hardened steel brushing at pivot points with a bolt retainer. The spring steel axle cushions are designed for shock absorption . The Legend cutter features a large free wing float range, a built-in jack, three equal-sized cutting circles, and a high blade tip speed of 16,000 fpm.
Vicon introduces a 10-disc 4000S trailed mower with a free-float suspension system. During rough conditions, the mower may be lifted and swung backward to protect the mower bar from sudden impact. Cutting height is easily set by a turn of a link. Suggested list price ranges from $17,500 to $18,500. Circle 115.
Vicon also introduces the new Extra 832T-B trailed mower conditioner with eight discs, an optional wide spread and swath belt for added flexibility during rough soil conditions. The swath belt merges two belts into one for faster crop collection and is easily operated from the tractor seat. Suggest list price is $16,639. Circle 116.
Zetor has added higher horsepower tractors to its Proxima series. Part of the improved series, called Proxima Plus, is the 8541 model that runs up to 90 hp. The 8541 features increased carrying capacity, an upgraded cab and easy implement attachments. The Proxima Plus tractors, with 90 to 107 hp, feature the company's own engine design.
The tractors will not be available until this summer. Contact Zetor North America, Dept. FIN, 1400 Hagy Way, Harrisburg, PA 17110, 877/469-3867, visit www.zetorna.com or www.freeproductinfo.net/fin, or circle 118.
A new trailed bale wrapper carries two bales and independently wraps them for faster baling time. The Taarup 7520 bale wrapper features a low height and curved support, ensuring bales stay on the wrapper at high wrapping speeds and on rough terrain. The low height also aids in dismounting the bales from the wrapper. Three operating options are available: three levers to start the wrapping process and tip the bale off the wrapper; a joystick; or automatic stop of the wrapping function after a preset number of revolutions. Optional features include a film roll magazine that allows up to six spare rolls of plastic to be carried and a drop mat for added bale protection during unloading. A bale turner places bales on their flat side for easy pickup.
A new fertilizer injection unit offers a high-capacity tank, strong coulters for accurate placement and convenient fold up for road travel. The Blu-Jet AT4610 All Terrain Jetstream Injection Applicator features a narrow transport width at 16 ft. 2 in. A heavy-duty, seven-section, front-mount toolbar extends 60 ft. across 24 rows. Coulters with 20-in. blades and a 30° swivel combine to apply 1,200 lbs. of pressure to the soil. The new unit is equipped with a 1,775-gal. tank, and the smaller AT4010 unit has a 1,400-gal. tank and narrower toolbar.
Retail price of the AT4610 is $48,134, and the AT4010 retails for $29,202. Contact Thurston Mfg. Co., Dept. FIN, Box 218, Thurston, NE 68062, 402/385-3041, visit www.thurstonmfgco.com or www.freeproductinfo.net/fin, or circle 120.
Hay rake wheel
The Universal Super Wheel from Tonutti features a dual plate design that allows the wheel to fit both sides of a rake. This eliminates the need to buy two plates. The tines are 7 mm thick and made of C85 steel. For added durability, the tines are heat-treated to allow better spring action during operation.
Pull-type hitch conversion
A new mounted pull converts 3-pt. tools and Remlinger strip-till machines to pull-type hitches. The Mounted Pull Package from Remlinger fits most tools and four frame sizes to create a stable pull-type hitch. The hitch and top link attach to the 3-pt. frame of the tool, while the wheel packages are bolted to the frame. Because mounted pull packages are shorter than non-mounted ones, rear heaviness is reduced. Two hydraulic cylinders with hoses and couplers along with an equalizer control valve are included with the package. The Mounted Pull Package fits the following frame sizes: 4 × 6 ft., 6 × 6 ft., 5 × 7 ft., and 7 × 7 ft.
HCC says its new Gateway sieve and chaffer system improves combine crop flow and grain cleaning. The Gateway system from HCC is made of plastic and aluminum to be lighter weight, reducing the wear on cleaning shoe bushings and bearings. Its plastic construction also allows the crop to flow more easily, especially in cold temperatures when all-steel sieves and chaffers have problems with crop flow, according to the company. A 33-mm spacing is used on small grains, and a 45-mm spacing is used for larger crops. Two slat designs are available: the ⅞-in. LT and ⅜-in. ST. Price: 20 ft. and under, $525; 22 ft. and over, $970. Circle 123.
HCC also redesigned its Orbit reel to eliminate the gap between reel and auger that leads to trash buildup. The new double-track design of the reel allows the tines to break its circular path and swing past the auger. This closes the gap and provides continuous crop flow. The Orbit reel fits all 1990 and newer HCC tube-type reels. Price: $1040 to $1980. Circle 124.
Hardi says that it has designed the tanks of its new trailer sprayers to reduce excessive internal movements of the spray liquid. The new trailers also have a tight turning radius while maintaining stability.
The Commander 6600 features a 1,850-gal. tank, a new steering system and improved precision options. Three boom options for the sprayer are the Eagle in widths of 80 to 100 ft., the Twin Force in widths of 80 to 100 ft., and the Force in widths of 80 to 132 ft. All booms feature a Hardi suspension system that dampens impacts from the field and tractor.
The SmartValve controls all the main functions in the sprayer and is operated with two handles. A rate controller automatically informs the operator of the operation status such as pressure and speed. The Hardi Controller 5500 can calculate and control volume rate and distance.
