Tornadoes hit with a vengeance yesterday killing at least two people, with deaths reported in Ottawa, Illinois, and Perryville, Missouri. Volunteers stepped up to help. Recovery will go on for months. Reconstruction often brings new and modern to farms and cities ripped apart, but will the wounds ever heal?

Consumers are favoring healthier foods, which is forcing main line food companies to make changes. Hershey is cutting 15% of its workforce. General Mills and Kelloggs previously announced they were cutting jobs.

An Indiana farmer yesterday told lawmakers they need to spend twice as much on export promotion programs.

Hoosier state is ranked No. 1 among 50 for its state government. 

Best places to live list from U.S. News and World Report is out. The only city from the Midwest on the list is Des Moines, Iowa, which is No. 9.
