The farm equipment manufacturer Kuhn Group recently announced it will purchase Krause Corp., another manufacturer of farm equipment. Kuhn is a large international company with $850 million in annual sales; its North American headquarters is in Broadhead, WI. Krause is a privately held manufacturer of tillage equipment and grain drills located in Hutchinson, KS. The company posted $61 million in revenues last year and employed 230 workers.
A news release from Kuhn reports that the Krause name will change to Kuhn Krause, Inc., and Kuhn Krause will be operated independently to “focus on the development, manufacturing and marketing of large-width tillage tools for the North American and overseas markets.”
Kuhn manufactures a wide variety of agricultural machinery, including hay and forage, livestock-feeding, tillage, planting and manure-spreading equipment. Kuhn is headquartered in France and has seven manufacturing plants in the United States, France, Brazil and the Netherlands. It employs 3,500 workers worldwide.
The news release said Kuhn made the acquisition to increase its presence primarily in the U.S. Corn Belt and to add the high-horsepower tillage tools and grain drills to its product lines.
