In the words of country music singer Hank Williams, Jr., "country boys can survive" was the theme of a recent sweet corn cookout on the Bridenbaugh farm.
The Bridenbaughs used their hydraulic sweet corn stripper to feed the whole family some freshly cooked sweet corn. Read about the process below and browse through the photos to see how it was done.
"First, we cook the corn on a propane burner. After cooking it is lifted out and allowed to drain before setting it on the bucket of the Bobcat. That bucket is full of cold water and the hot corn is dumped into the water. The corn sits there for a while to cool before it is dumped onto a grate to drain. Then we husk and trim the ears (if needed to get rid of bad spots) before it goes to the stripper. It is put into the stripper and the hydraulic cylinder pushes it thru a sharp circular cutting edge. Much faster and a lot more fun than the old fashioned knife!"
