AGCO cut the ribbon this week on a new agriculture equipment and technology training center near company headquarter in Duluth, GA. Farm Industry News editor Jodie Wehrspann was there to cover the grand opening, which included appearances by AGCO president and CEO Martin Richenhagen and AGCO senior vice president and general manager Bob Crain.
The 19,500-sq.-ft. Global Learning Center will provide training to dealers and AGCO personnel on topics including product training, parts, service, systems, technology, finance, and dealer management.
“In surveys with our dealers, the number-one request was for more regional training,” says Tim Miller, manager of global learning for AGCO. “This facility will meet that need.”
Miller says a key concentration of the center will be getting dealers up to speed on equipment technologies, which have seen a replacement rate of 30% every three to four years.
“These technologies require tools beyond a crescent wrench,” Miller says. “Dealers today show up with laptops to diagnose electronic malfunctions in farm equipment.”
The center consists of three state-of-the-art classrooms, a conference room, and three fully outfitted equipment service and repair bays, the largest of which can accommodate 4-wd tractors and combines.
The new center is now the third facility in the U.S. available to dealers, designed to service the needs of dealers in the eastern U.S. and eastern Canada. Other regional centers are in Boise, ID, Jackson, MN, and Hesston, KS.
